As you begin to age, life takes a toll on your skin. Acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation leave you looking old and tired, with facial skin that has lost its youthful glow and texture. If you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars, or refresh your complexion to achieve skin that is radiant, laser skin rejuvenation could be just what you are looking for.

Using your body's own ability to regenerate and heal, laser skin resurfacing uses laser light energy to remove the outermost layers of the epidermis leaving you with tighter, smoother, more vibrant skin. There are two main types of laser skin rejuvenation: full ablative and fractional. Both types of laser skin rejuvenation involve less downtime than traditional methods such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion.

What is Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

In our surgical center in Valdosta, Georgia, Dr. Sonya J. Merriman uses an ablative laser with skill and precision to remove unwanted lines, wrinkles, scars, or sun damage resulting in a radiant, glowing complexion. Your skin will be smooth, evenly-toned, and revitalized, with the youthful glow that attracts. When you glance in the mirror not only will you notice your brilliant new complexion, the boost in self-esteem can be lift-changing.

Laser skin rejuvenation with a full ablative laser requires more downtime. Using this type of laser, the outermost layers of skin are removed causing the skin to speed cell turnover and producing fresh, youthful skin, with brilliant results. Patients may need to be away from work for approximately one week while the treated skin heals and rejuvenates.

Laser Skin Resurfacing with the Fractional O2 Laser

The Fractional CO2 laser uses state-of-the-art technology to treat fine lines, wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and to stimulate the skin's natural ability to produce collagen. This type of laser not only removes the outermost layer of skin, it also creates tiny, undetectable punctures in the surface of the skin stimulating the skin to produce collagen. This creates an automatic tightening effect, provides visible improvements in texture, and produces a smoother, more brilliant, clearer appearance of the skin.

These lasers are used to target deeper layers of the skin, as well as to stimulate collagen production in the deeper layers of the dermis. You will see both immediate results, which will continue to improve over time as your skin heals from the laser process.
