If you have reached the point where you are ready to do something effective about your appearance by correcting the appearance of sagging skin on the neck or jowls, it is time to discuss neck lift surgery performed by leading plastic surgeon Dr. Sonya Merriman at her private clinic in Valdosta.

Facial Enhancement with Neck Lift Surgery

Sagging, droopy skin on the face and neck can cause great embarrassment to those who experience it. This sagging skin, accompanied by vertical bands on the neck, can significant age the appearance of those whom it affects. A neck lift can help to rejuvenate this area of your body, increasing your self-confidence and giving you a new-found love for the way you look.

Causes of Sagging Skin in the Neck and Jaw

If you see lines, creases, fat, and saggy skin on your neck, it is a depressing sign of age. Through the natural aging process, your skin loses collagen and elastin, starting to sag, giving it an unsightly and older appearance. As the underlying structure of the skin begins to deteriorate, the neck appears older, with vertical bands, creases, and fat, losing the appearance of youth and vitality. A neck lift can result in an amazing transformation and a smooth, defined neck and jaw that significantly improves your appearance.

Options for Neck Lift Surgery in Valdosta, Georgia

Neck lift surgery is performed employing the use of small incisions near the sideburn area of the face. If necessary, Dr. Merriman may also make a small incision under the chin. There can be multiple steps involved in neck lift surgery. Those include:

  • Liposuction. If unsightly fat deposits accompany the sagging skin in your jowls and neck, liposuction can remove the excess fat in the area of the neck allowing Dr. Merriman to contour the area to create a sleek, rejuvenated appearance.
  • Removing excess skin. Occasionally, all that is necessary to achieve the streamlined appearance of the neck and jaw that you desire is to tighten the skin and remove any excess skin in this area.
  • Platysmaplasty. This is a surgical procedure that involves correcting the thin layer of muscle that rises from collarbone to the base of your chin, called the platysma muscle. This structure meets at the center of the neck. The procedure tightens the muscle to correct the appearance of vertical banding that add years to your appearance.
