Dermaplaning is a popular treatment that uses a special scalpel to remove dead skin gently cells, dirt, debris, and peach fuzz. The exfoliating blade, when in the hands of one of Dr. Merriman’s highly skilled skincare specialists, causes no pain or irritation, while resulting in a fresh, smooth complexion.

What does dermaplaning treatment entail?

During your dermaplaning treatment, a skincare specialist will apply an iodine substance that will protect your skin from any infection as well as provide a guide for your specialist. Your specialist will then begin to scrape the blade gently across the skin’s surface, removing fine hairs and dead skin. All in your dermaplaning treatment can be completed in 15 minutes, leaving your skin fresh and glowing.

Am I a good candidate for dermaplaning?

If you have excess peach fuzz and notice a dull complexion, dermaplaning may be an ideal solution for you. Most skin types can benefit from dermaplaning, but those with very sensitive skin, such as those with rosacea, or those suffering from an acne breakout may not be good candidates for dermaplaning.

What results can I expect from dermaplaning?

Most patients report that their faces look “lit-from-within” after dermaplaning, as it results in fresh, clean, glowing skin. Dermaplaning results in a smooth, hair-free complexion giving it a sheen and allowing makeup to glide more easily onto the skin for a more even look (although you should wait to apply makeup until a day after your treatment).

Dermaplaning reveals fresh skin that can absorb facial products more efficiently. After your dermaplaning treatment, you can apply products such as a super-moisturizing hyaluronic acid. dermaplaning can be used in combination with other therapies to achieve a more comprehensive level of facial skin rejuvenation.

What can I expect after dermaplaning?

After your dermaplaning treatment, you may experience some redness and sensitivity as your new skin is revealed, which typically disappears after a day or two. You should make sure to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your newly-revealed skin as well as let it breathe, by not covering it with foundation or powder for at least a day.
