As the skin on our face begins to age, it loses some of its natural volume and elasticity, eventually leading to skin that with fine lines or wrinkles, is lackluster, and lack the tightness it once had. We all know the benefits of using dermal injectables such as BOTOX or hyaluronic acid-based fillers like Restylane, and Juvéderm.

These injectables, when used correctly, can take years off the appearance of your face, restoring volume and treating lines, wrinkles, and creases. What happens if these treatments are no longer enough to keep your skin revitalized?

Lost Facial Volume and Sculptra

Designed to treat the symptoms of facial lipoatrophy, or “facial wasting,” – an unhappy natural event – Sculptra is an Poly-L-lactic acid facial injectable for those who need to revitalize and rejuvenate facial appearance and restore lost volume.

This FDA-approved synthetic form of lactic acid stimulates your cells to produce natural collagen for firmer, more youthful skin, while restoring facial volume. Sculptra acts as a powerful collagen-producing trigger, working with the natural regenerative processes of your body to create, softer, firmer, suppler facial skin.

Sculptra can be carefully and correctly injected by Dr. Merriman to resolve the following issues:

  • Hollow temples
  • Sagging cheeks
  • Deep lines and creases
  • Smile lines, frown lines
  • Slack, aging facial skin

Who is a Candidate for Sculptra?

Most men and women who need to restore facial volume while stimulating natural collagen production, including those who have some health conditions that restrict the use of some other injectable products, are good candidates for facial rejuvenation with Sculptra.

The polylactic acid used in Sculptra is inert, with no risk of developing an allergic reaction to the product. However, patients with weakened immune systems, skin infections, or those who take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications on a regular basis should consult with out board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if Sculptra treatments are appropriate and safe.

Restore Facial Firmness: Sculptra

When the firming, plumping, fatty tissue in the face dissipates, your face may begin to look tired, gaunt, and aged. The FDA has approved the use of Sculptra to treat the effects of facial wasting, as well as fat loss in the undereye area, cheeks, and temples. Studies have shown that patients who receive six Sculptra treatments have increased facial volume of up to 40 percent, with results that last for a period of up two years.

Loss of facial volume will lead to a hollow, sunken look to your face, often in the areas beneath the eyes, in sagging cheeks, and thinning lips. Sculptra may be used to treat these issues, as well as areas of deep lines and wrinkles for a refreshed, healthy, far more youthful look.
